Lester Bentley: From Two Rivers High School to Painting the President of the United

Lester W. Bentley (1908-1972), a Two Rivers native, grew to national prominence as a portrait painter.  However, Bentley is not known as well as he should be locally and on the national stage.  His paintings are found in museums and homes throughout the world, yet his work seldom comes up for sale.  Jeanne Mease, Chair of the Lester Bentley Committee of the Two Rivers Historical Society, examines the artist’s life.  From painting signs to portraiture that include the likes of prominent Two Rivers citizens, Curly Lambeau, Wisconsin Governors, to a sitting President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower.  Jeanne will share this fascinating story through personal stories and images.   Discover more about the colorful life and work of this local artist.
