Sock Bunnies

Transform a sweet baby sock into a cute rice-stuffed bunny. Every bunny needs a carrot, so make one by painting clothespins and adding ribbon fronds. A lovely Easter and spring display! Registration required; call (920)793-8888.

An Almost Forgotten People: The Hmong American Experience

Author of the memoir Modern Jungles: A Hmong Refugee’s Childhood Story of Survival and Associate Dean of the School of Education at UW-La Crosse, Dr. Lor shares insights about how the Hmong went from an intricate, sophisticated, and vulnerable culture in isolated regions of Laos in the 1960s and ‘70s to becoming a part of the American and global landscape.

Above Average Reader

Through December 31 for ages 14+

American adults read an average of 12 books each year, with half reading four or fewer. How do you rank? Upon completing your 13th book, attain ABOVE AVERAGE status and receive a congratulatory canvas tote or patch. 100 Books Before One

Read 100 books by age one. Sharing books together strengthens your baby’s foundation for learning, and the bond between baby and their favorite teacher: YOU! Receive a free book after each milestone of 25 books logged.

1,000 books before kindergarten

Read 1,000 books together before your child enters five-year-old kindergarten. Earn FREE BOOKS for your home library as you hit each 100-book milestone!

500 books before middle school

Now that your child is reading on their own, challenge them to read 500 books before middle school. Earn reading badges, fun charms, and FREE BOOKS!

Utilize the drive-thru when you’ve been notified that requested items are ready, and to pick up to-go packs and book club selections. Even if you didn’t initially request drive-thru service, we can grab your items and deliver them at the window! It’s a great way to pick up materials whether it’s raining, your mobility is compromised, or your babies are asleep in the back seat!

For even faster service, select the Lester Public Library Drive-Thru location when placing materials on hold. When calling to request materials, let staff know you’d like drive-thru pick up.
