After his mother’s death, Elling, a sensitive and mentally disabled man, moves to a psychiatric institution, where he befriends Kjell. Two years later, the pair are given an apartment in Oslo and must learn to navigate the challenges of independent life. As even the simplest tasks prove daunting, their friendship helps them find confidence, purpose and a place in the world.
